LTA and Shropshire Tennis Awards

The annual LTA Awards highlight the incredible achievements and contributions of people in tennis across Britain. Launched in 2015 with the help of former LTA president Cathie Sabin OBE, the awards celebrate the many thousands of inspirational individuals involved in tennis, dedicating their precious time and energy to the continual development and growth of the sport.

2026 Shropshire Winners
- Club of the Year: Boughey Gardens Tennis Club - recognised for its inclusive ethos, community partnerships and thriving membership.
- Lifetime Achievement Award: Sue Hammonds - honoured for years of exceptional service at Town Walls Tennis Club.
- Cathie Sabin Volunteer of the Year: Graham Porter - celebrated for transforming Church Stretton Tennis Club's facilities and community reach.
- Young Person of the Year: Erin Oakley - recognised for her coaching journey, inclusive programmes and commitment to expanding tennis opportunities.
- Competition of the Year: Shropshire Walking Tennis League - a hugely successful 12-week countywide competition.
- Official of the Year: Amy Dannatt - praised for her outstanding leadership at the Shropshire County Championships.
- Coach of the Year: Tim Calver - awarded for his transformative coaching across multiple clubs and age groups.
- Performance Coach of the Year: Richard Tennant - recognised for developing a thriving performance pathway at Telford Tennis Centre.
- School of the Year: Church Stretton School - celebrated for embedding tennis into school life and inspiring students to join their local club.
- Tennis Opened Up Award: Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin Age UK Walking Tennis - applauded for creating welcoming, life-enhancing walking tennis groups across the county.
