County Cup
The County Cup is a national series of inter-county leagues and tournaments organised by the LTA for players selected on merit to play for their county.
To play in County Cup players must meet the eligibility criteria of living or having been born within Shropshire. It's a great honour to be asked to represent your County.
All players representing Shropshire are asked to wear the official County uniform whenever possible. This is provided by our County sponsor Babolat through their partner Intersport and can be purchased through the County shop. You will need the county code in order to make a purchase - please ask your team captain for this.
Junior Team

Shropshire has a Junior County Training Programme for all age groups from red ball (under 8) upwards and juniors are selected to play for Shropshire in accordance with the Junior Selection Policy. This sets out the minimum requirement which players must meet in order to be considered as well as the process of selection itself.
There are junior County Cup competitions for boys and girls in the age groups 8U, 9U, 10U, 11U, 12U, 14U and 18U with one County Cup competition being held each summer for each age group except 8U for which there are two competitions each year, in spring and autumn.

Adult & Senior Teams
County Cup events give open and senior players the opportunity to represent their county.
The County open team captains are appointed each year at the Tennis Shropshire AGM and are responsible for selecting their teams in accordance with the County selection policy. Senior captains are appointed in conjunction with the County seniors lead and are also responsible for organising squad training sessions and selecting their teams from their County squad.
Adult open and senior events are as follows:
Summer County Cup - open to players over the age of 14
Winter County Cup - open to players over the age of 14 Over 35's
County Cup - open to players over the age of 35
Seniors County Cup - women: over 40s, over 50s, over 55s, over 60s, over 65s, over 70s, over 75s and over 80s
Seniors County Cup - men: over 45s, over 50s, over 55s, over 60s, over 65s, over 70s and over 75s
An open try out is held each year for any senior players who would like to put themselves forwards for selection to a county seniors squad - information on this is sent out to each club well in advance of the event. Any seniors interested in representing Shropshire are also encouraged to enter the various seniors competitions held in the county through the year.
