It is with great sadness that we write this post to let you know that Bob Kerr passed away over the weekend. He was taken ill soon after returning from a run and died at home shortly after with his wife Julie by his side.
Bob will be sadly missed by everyone across the Shropshire tennis community and beyond. He always had the best interests of tennis in Shropshire at heart and was a passionate supporter of tennis for everyone.
Bob will be remembered for many things including Tennis Shropshire gaining Charitable status, the Community Dome that should begin construction in early 2022 as well as his passion for getting tennis into schools and all the work he did over many years on delivering tennis through parks to mention just a few. Bob also did a huge amount to support the creation of a disability tennis programme across Shropshire that now sees us delivering tennis for many disability groups including Derwen College.
Bob was highly respected within the Midlands Region and as an LTA Councillor where he served on a number of sub-committees, always ensuring that the voice of grass roots tennis was heard.
We appreciate that this will come as a shock to you all as it has to us, and our thoughts are with Julie and the family at this difficult time. As we find out about funeral arrangements we will keep you informed.
