Broseley Tennis Club's post-Wimbledon American tournament is a big hit

Broseley Tennis Club held its first summer American tournament on a splendidly sunny Saturday afternoon.

Experienced and new members drew for partners and took part in keen competitive play based on tie-breaks and points won.

Players were impressed with the standard and the closeness of competition, with many trying to put into practice tips learnt from recent Wimbledon stars during the SW19 fortnight.

The ‘A’ competition winners were Richard Smith and Barry Griffiths, with Gisella Griffiths and Pat Clarke the 'B' competition winners.

After prizes were awarded, members enjoyed tea and homemade cake.

The event was deemed to have been a great success and future tournaments are already being planned.
