Firsts at Broseley tennis club fun tournament finals

Broseley Tennis Club has enjoyed a summer of competitive fun tennis involving over 30 members which culminated in an evening of floodlight finals, a first for the club.

A new umpire’s chair, donated to the club, was opened at the beginning of the event.

The jovial atmosphere and the closeness of competition impressed spectators.

The eventual winner of the singles competition was Tom Heath who finally overcame Chris Wharton in a keenly fought match, both finalists were new club members.

In the doubles final Lesley Pugh and Andy McMahon-Stone fought back hard, winning in three sets against Julie Newton and Alex Kaiser.

Prizes were awarded to all the finalists by Richard Smith, the organiser of the Tournament, who congratulated all those involved in the event and thanked the umpires and line judges.

It was deemed to have been a great success and more competitions are planned for the future.
