Shrewsbury Lawn Tennis Club to hold free Open Day


Shrewsbury Lawn Tennis Club invite anyone interested in playing or learning to play tennis within the beautiful surroundings of Shrewsbury’s Quarry Park to attend their FREE Open Day on Saturday, April 27. 

A warm welcome is guaranteed at the event which runs from 10am to 4pm, with a range of playing sessions suitable for all abilities.

They include activities for children while there will also be a speed gun for anyone keen to compare their serve with the professionals.

A pop up shop will sell tennis clothing and equipment, with Wilson rackets available to try and for sale at discounted rates.

Mike Barton, the head coach at Shrewsbury Lawn Tennis Club, said: “We are encouraging anyone who’s keen for some tennis to come along and get involved. 

"It doesn’t matter if you’re an experienced club player, haven’t played for a few years, or you’re completely new to the game - we will have members and coaches on hand to welcome you to our club.”

Club chairman Steve Pearce added: “This year we are running a special promotion for all new members to the club, so why not come down and see our facilities for yourself.

"As well as opportunities to have a hit on court, we will also be serving refreshments all day in our clubhouse and we look forward to welcoming you.”

Shrewsbury Lawn Tennis Club is a friendly and welcoming club set in the heart of Shrewsbury, with 11 tennis courts – five floodlit hard courts and six grass courts - together with a clubhouse and onsite parking for members.

The club is based at The Crescent, Town Walls, Shrewsbury, SY1 1TR.
