Shropshire’s over-65s men’s tennis team enjoy victory against Leicestershire

Shropshire’s over-65s men’s tennis team enjoyed a 3-2 victory over Leicestershire in their latest fixture in the LTA’s Seniors County Cup event.

Shropshire's winning team featured Rob Rue, Mike Shaw, who played both a singles and then the doubles together, and Iain Macdonald and Seabury Salmon, who played and won both their doubles matches.

Rob and Mike both lost their singles matches on deciding tie breaks after long matches but went on to win their doubles match very well.

Steve Corfield had been due to play the second singles match, but was ruled out by a slight injury, so Mike deputised.

Shropshire had previously lost narrowly to Staffordshire, with Mike and Steve edged out 11-9 in a deciding tie-break.
