Summer league announcement

Whilst we are seeing some progress in opening tennis back up, this is obviously being done under tight restrictions and we are unsure as to how long these will be in place with no indication as to when we will get back to normal. With this in mind we have regretfully made the decision to cancel the Tennis Shropshire Summer League for 2020 as we feel this is in the best interest of everyone.

This decision has not been made lightly as it is the last thing we wanted to do, but on
listening to peoples' concerns and even though tennis is being opened back up, with the restrictions that are in place it would be difficult to allow the league to run.

Some people have already expressed concerns about travelling to matches and social distancing etc and so we feel the decision is in everyone's best interest as the safety of our members is our main our priority.

Club’s entry fees to the Summer League which you have already paid will be credited back to your club and if we do not already have this information we will contact your club to get the necessary details. Once things do open up for us to start getting back to normal (whatever normal will be), we feel that first and foremost we need to concentrate on getting our clubs fully open with members back on court enjoying social tennis again along with getting our coaching programmes back up and running. Hopefully this will be achieved through the summer.

At this time we can then look to re-introduce League and Team Tennis as we still intend to run the Autumn Mixed League and the
McKenzie Shield as long as we are in a better position and it is safe to do so.

We trust that you both understand and support this decision. In the mean time we hope that you and your families are safe and we look forward to seeing you in the not too distant future.

Please stay safe and look after yourselves and your families.

Best wishes,

Simon Jones
