Ellesmere College hosts Tennis Shropshire's popular Senior Doubles competition

The annual Tennis Shropshire Senior Doubles competition produced a host of entertaining matches at Ellesmere College.

Categories ranged from over-35s to over-70s, with players from across the county taking part.

Fiona Jones, the competition organiser, said: "A number of clubs from up and down the county were represented, and we also had some new people playing in a county competition for the first time, which was great.

"The competition was played in a great spirit and, as ever, there was really excellent tennis.

"It was a nice opportunity for people from across the county to come together again and see people that they hadn't seen for a while and play friendly and competitive tennis.

"This event was started by Liz Boyle and it continues to be popular.

"Our thanks to Ellesmere College and Steve Welti for letting us use their courts for the competition."

Gill Snodgrass and Jane Williams won the ladies over-70s title, with Chris Wilson-Clarke and Mike Shaw the men's champions in the same age category.

Judy King and Cecely Holliday teamed up to win the ladies over-60s event, with Caroline Bason and Kathy Gardener the ladies over-50s winners.

The men's over-35s champions were Andy Tellwright and Nick Jukes.
