Tennis on offer at Dementia information day
Tennis Shropshire will be exhibiting at a special dementia information event at Shrewsbury Town Football Club on Friday 17th March.
It's one of a number of organisations all coming together to offer help and support to people whose lives have been touched by dementia.
Fiona Jones, chair of Tennus Shropshire said “Tennis is well recognised as a great way to enjoy exercise in a social setting, however many people don't realise how adaptable tennis can be.”
“There is a form of tennis for pretty much everyone including its fast growing offshoot walking tennis, and at Tennis Shropshire we are determined to spread this message far and wide.”
“Dementia is one condition where it has been shown that walking tennis can help with movement, balance and socializing and what's even better is that it provides an activity where partners are able to join in too, if they wish.”
“That's why we want to support the Dementia Awareness event - so that we can spread the word about walking tennis and the opportunities for those with Dementia to get involved.”
